Cicadas. They're making noises. It's all you hear. The crackle of fireworks in the distance set you off, as you look up into the sky. You swore that you just saw the face of a devil stare down at you, almost warning you, bad luck is coming your way.
You wake up the next day, and slide the bed sheets off your feet. As you begin to step down, you feel a sharp, glass object penetrate your foot, as blood spews everywhere from your sole. You squeal in pain, before bandaging the wound with a first-aid kit you found near you in one of your drawers.
You finally get your shoes on, and walk outside. It was a day destined to be the worst in your life, where you walked into school, surrounded by other students.
Suddenly, you and others fall to the floor, waking up at a lake site.
You see a small, horned girl, staring at all of you. Unknown what is about to happen, you all wait for what is to come.
In a dark, feint voice, she says:
"I am Oroshi Mirai. You all will know me as "the detective", because that is what I am. We are testing the skills of students in Hinamizawa. You will all be placed in a mystery. Whoever solves it gets cash, and lots of it, got it? Now... tell us a bit about yourself."
All of you were so confused, but if she's a detective, you have to listen to her - she's part of the government. You looked around, as the others began to speak. It was your turn to start out the mystery-filled, horrific adventure.
